Depending on the condition of the stone surface and the type of finish the client requests, the service technicians determine what process to use. With certain types of natural stone it is normal for holes, chips or cracks to appear after a certain period of time. Holes most commonly occur on filled, polished Travertine surfaces (also known as Saturnia), and may develop in some other materials as well. This stone, by nature, is full of holes and it can be purchased filled or unfilled depending on the client’s preference. If the stone is Travertine and is filled and polished it is a very simple procedure to fix when holes occur. The MK Hole Repair Kit contains all the items needed along with a two-component product for filling holes – an epoxy and a hardener – and a coloring tint to blend to match shades of the stone. This Kit is also used for filling chips in the stone as well as stress cracks.
